New Castle Painting - Varients

Good evening. I just finished working over the past couple of days to create this new image using Photoshop paint tools and a Wacom Cintiq. I meticulously painted the castle and surrounding using various brushes in Photoshop. This is what I've created so far and I'm having a hard time deciding which one I like better. It would either be the colorful one or the less saturated piece. Let me know what you think if you are reading this blog. I would appreciate it!

  1. Chris try a gradation between the two, overlay one on top of the other and blend them together in subtle areas so the reds are used as middle tones and some highlights it adds a slight bit of color to the monochrome with a limited palate

  2. I agree with Tom. the subdued less saturated one draws me in and is more mysterious. the contrast gives it more depth. but give the right topside edges of the building a slight hit of red (being you can see some color glowing in the sky in that one) and it will give it a sense of some potential weather event is just about to break... or all hell is about to descend upon the castle.. or rudolph is about to land eight other tiny reindeer and santa is going to beget gifts to the patrons of this lovely home ;-P

  3. no contest, the top one is better... looks like the first rays of sunrise; the redder one is just too much red

  4. Cool! Thanks for all the comments and I will continue to tweak. I agree with all the comments and you guys may have just solved my problem! Thank you! I remember what my Art College told us that great art is created by many artists working together. Like the Rudolf comment - that's what I was really going for: A dark Christmas!
